Crime Prevention and Community Policing

Community Policing and Crime Prevention are essential tools for meeting today’s crime fighting goals and keeping our communities safe. The Detroit Lakes Police Department’s Crime Prevention Officers offer many programs to our citizens and businesses, creating a joint venture between the community and law enforcement in obtaining these goals.

It is important to point out that a Law Enforcement Agency is merely a group of people dedicated full-time to fighting crime and keeping the peace. It's everyone's job to be aware of problems in Detroit Lakes and take steps to make it a better place to live. Citizens need to be involved with their communities and local agencies for us to be the most effective.

Report suspicious activity and take simple steps such as locking your vehicle or other common sense prevention to help us in our efforts. Get to know our Officers and educate yourself about the problems Law Enforcement face in our area. Together we can all build a community partnership against crime.
