City of Detroit Lakes Public Works - Weed/Animal Control & Yard Waste

Animal Control
Puppy and kitty. The City of Detroit Lakes requires that all residents license their dogs and cats. This may be accomplished at the City Administration Building, 1025 Roosevelt Avenue. Fees are $5.00 for spayed or neutered dogs (remember to bring proof), $10.00 for unaltered dogs. Proof of rabies vaccination is required for all dogs.
Detroit Lakes City Code requires all dogs and cats over the age of 3 months be licensed. Animal licenses are effective for one year from January through December. Licenses purchased during the year are only good for the remainder of that year. Download the Animal License Application below.
