Weed Control
Public Works DepartmentMinnesota State Statue requires that all noxious weeds be eradicated or destroyed. Tall grass and weeds in excess of 6 inches high must be cut and removed from the property. This includes vacate property, side yards, along alleys, and boulevards.
Yard Waste
Public Works DepartmentThe City of Detroit Lakes yard waste site is located on Rossman Avenue by the Ice Arena and is opened to the residents of Detroit Lakes seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Residents my drop off branches and woody materials such as hedges, branches, and woody veins as well as grass clippings and leaves. No other materials are accepted. Residents are asked not to leave plastic bags or containers at the collection site. This material is recycled and is available as mulch from the Becker County Transfer Station north of Detroit Lakes off of Highway 59.
